Suffolk is taking bold steps to tackle climate change, and schools are at the heart of this transformation. Through collaboration, education, and action, we can create a sustainable future for our communities and young people.

Why Schools Matter in Climate Action

Schools are more than places of learning, they are hubs for change. By embedding sustainability into daily operations and teaching, schools can reduce emissions, restore biodiversity, and inspire future leaders. The Suffolk Sustainable Schools Network (SUSSN) provides the tools, training, and resources to make this possible. From energy efficiency to climate education, we help schools develop Climate Action Plans that align with national strategies and local priorities. Together, we can empower staff and students to take meaningful steps toward a greener future.

Turning Vision into Action

The Suffolk Climate Emergency Plan sets an ambitious goal: net-zero emissions by 2030. Achieving this requires collaboration across communities, and schools play a vital role. SUSSN connects educators, leaders, and partners to share best practices, access funding, and deliver impactful projects. Our network offers free training, events, and resources to embed sustainability across eight key areas from energy and transport to biodiversity and waste. By joining the network, schools gain the support needed to turn climate challenges into opportunities for innovation and resilience. Together, we can build a thriving Suffolk for generations to come.
